What year Vmax? We've got a '94 and while it's a very reliable and good riding sled it's slow. For years I rode the Vmax 600 and my dad always tore me a new one on his '95 Arctic Cat 580 EXT. That was a long time ago now and our '04 Polaris 700 Vertical Escape is neck and neck with a friends 700 Triple Mountain Max. I can kill him on my '03 800 Escape though.... I've found that Yami makes good quality sleds but I haven't been impressed with their engines, besides the older Vmax4 800, and don't support their sleds today that are mostly all 4 stroke. THey are too heavy for mountain riding. I bet they are great on the flat trails though.

Ours is a long track. I got mine up to 100mph in Diamond Lake Oregon a long time ago, they top out well but my dad just had more power on his 580, he could always out drag me, out climb, and just had more power....and when I was doing 100mph, he topped at 105. The powder is definantly fun! My 2003 Polaris Veritcal Escape 800cc has a 159"x2" track and I love it. I can climb almost anything and I haven't stuck it yet, knock on wood... Out west here thats all we do though, there isn't much for trails. Just mountains and deep....deep powder.

100mph shouldn't be very difficult for a 600cc sled, especially a short tracker trail sled like he has. Mine is a long track version and I could manage 100 back when I rode it a lot.

It takes cold temps to make the snow very icy and slick. The trail has to be very well groomed. Obviously 100mph can't be had plowing through a foot of powder or anything.

Basically you have to get out on a "freeway" type trail for triple digit numbers, and 600's can hang no problem. 800-1000's are just plain wild!

When it comes to snowmobiles I think Arctic Cats are just plain freaking fast no matter what size.
Now my '97 ZRT hits 100 plus before I can take a second breath and that is at about 106 HP and the new twins at 600cc and above are over 125 HP in stock form.....BEASTS!!
BUT, The point i'm getting to is that my 1998 Polaris Indy 500's will get to 100 but not much more, and it takes considerably longer, but those machines run ALL DAY LONG, Flawlessly through the trails and anybody can feel safe riding them!
My CAT has been down numerous times because of its ability and the fact that, thats why I got it!
Polaris sleds............have yet to fail at 8000 plus miles on both.
All Snowmobiles ROCK....Regardless of make!

Havent figured out what we are talking about sleds for BUT.............COME-ON WINTER !! SORRY, My favorite season.
