Now my '97 ZRT hits 100 plus before I can take a second breath and that is at about 106 HP and the new twins at 600cc and above are over 125 HP in stock form.....BEASTS!!
BUT, The point i'm getting to is that my 1998 Polaris Indy 500's will get to 100 but not much more, and it takes considerably longer, but those machines run ALL DAY LONG, Flawlessly through the trails and anybody can feel safe riding them!
My CAT has been down numerous times because of its ability and the fact that, thats why I got it!
Polaris sleds............have yet to fail at 8000 plus miles on both.
All Snowmobiles ROCK....Regardless of make!

Havent figured out what we are talking about sleds for BUT.............COME-ON WINTER !! SORRY, My favorite season.
Thats the spirit! Out with the heat, rake the leaves, and let the snow FLY!

We've got a '97 Powder Extreme, basically a ZRT 600 triple with a white hood and long track, and it is a screamer. We figure it's about 121HP or so with the silencer. Fast as hell but not like the newer sleds.

I was really impressed with the chest pounding acceleration of my dad's 2003 Mountain Cat 900 159" when he got it but am less impressed these days for two reasons...

1. I question A/C's quality. My dad has had a few problems with this sled and it burns fuel and oil like CRAZY.

2. My 2003 Polaris 800 Vertical Escape is just as fast and 20lbs lighter than his M/C. The fit and finish seems to be slightly better with our two Vertical Escapes (my 800 and the extra 700) than his Cat. My 800 gets good mileage and is easy on oil vs. his 900. Also, I can out manuever him no problem with the sharper turning radius and tipped rail, both sleds are 159" tracks.

hey RJF your powder extreme should be thumping 118 horsepower. i had a 96 ZRT 600 and it was cranking out 125 horsepower they detuned them a lil for 97. i am not for sure but i think the 97's have a single pipe where my 96 came stock with triples and that thing sounded badass.

They are all 118HP until 1999. Ours is also a triple triple, same motor. I figure about 121Hp because it's got a hi performance can on it. And I would agree, that thing sounds NUTZ.....My Polaris 800 twin has an MBRP can and may be bigger CC wise, but isn't nearly as loud as the triple triple cat.
