fun little project

ok so, my friend up the street has a gokart, its a 1 person gokart made for street use as it has no suspention. my friend has had it since he was 8 and its still tickin. its fun as hell might i add, the center of gravity is so low that even on pure pavement you can power slide it and fishtale it without any worry at all of it flipping over. anyway, it weighs in probebly at about 80 pounds. its totaly beaten to hell. there planning on selling it for like 20 bucks so i think im gonna buy it. theres a few things bent and messed up on it, but im gonna get a blow torch from walmart and some hammers and straighten parts out, ect.
my plan is to totally take it apart and fix it up, the engine has some problems, like the fuel tank and carborator keep coming off hte motor, so you have to tape a screw driver to the bolt while your riding and turn it every 3 minutes, so i think it might be a stripped bolt or something. but i plan on cleaning everything, painting it, and having a look at this motor. im sure that its never had its oil changed (just had oil added) in its long life, so im gonna drain it and see if theres anything else goin on, clean the air filter and have a look at the muffler, and drain the gas for fresh. for some reason the engine suddenly keeps eating belts and it wont grab right, like the belt is too thin on the width section. it keeps falling down into the secondary clutch and then it gets slacked and it wont grab right. i think that the secondary spring isnt pushing in enough to grab the belt. the belt system is pretty weird, theres a pully off the engine, then theres a pully below it that connects to the axle that moves in and out like on a PVT. but then also, theres a chain set that comes from the engine to the axle which im pretty sure is like a torque set. maybe if the engine dies i'll buy like an predetor 90 engine off ebay and put it on, heheh. the motor on there now cant be more than 6 horses.
anyway, everything else i'll paint and change ect, i dont have any welding machines so im kind of limated on what i can all do.

lol, that'd make it pull a wheelie, and i dont need a big engine in the back, i dont want to add a suspention to it unless i plan on going off road, which this gokart wouldent be adiquit, you'd need to fab a whole new frame to do it right

I had a friend that did a similar project but he used a 440 snowmobile engine. He bought the whole snowmobile running just with a bad track for 100 bucks. That thing hauled so much *** it wasnt even funny. It should be fun but if its was me id put a cage on it and a 5 point harness cause when i rode his i hit a bump and it about threw me off of it
