I found a bunch of different years. A 2000 piped, cdi and filter,a stock 02 Baja, an 04 baja x,a non baja model 04 and an 05 X. The problem is I heard the 2000 to 02 had a bad tranny that would bend the shift forks, then I heard some 04 models had a bad piston that would break up and cause engine problems. Is any of that true? The 05 X looked as if it had been beaten to death.BTW is that street bike a ZX-14?

I had a 2000. It was bulletproof. I think there were some stuck piston rings on the later models that would break the top of the piston, not sure. I believe the 650 won the Baja 1000(atv class) 3 years in a row. It's the same motor that they put in the BMW motorcycle. I rode mine for 4 years and never had it apart. Oops, I lied. New clutch. Started slipping from all the power. Stock springs are weak and I probably could have just put stronger springs in.
Yes, it's a zx14. I'm a speed junkie.

Thanks alot Budman. We have a friend who drag races a turboed Zx-14. Once he got it dialed in he took it out and on the strip popped the clutch and it stood straight up. We came over to him and he was shaking uncontrolably.

I read about guys doing performance work to their 14s. I say to myself, WHY???
The power of a stock one is amazing. Just trying to hold on is a chore.
This was a quick run last week, in 3rd gear in less than 10 seconds.

Looks like you've been doing some research, funride.
PG, posted those awhile back. Some of those pics don't even look real. Amazing!
