Scrambler 500 4X4 Sprockets (I want more low end)
#1
Has anyone played around with changing the sprockets on 500 scramblers? Stock they come with a 13 tooth sproket on the front. I ride in the mud a good bit and I would like to put larger tires on the rear. (24" Bearclaws) I am thinking about dropping the front sprocket from the 13T to a 11T. This would increase the tire size in the rear by 9% and would decrease the gearing in the front sprocket by 18%, giving aproximately a net gain of 9% in low end. What do yall think? Am I nuts?
How would this affect my front wheel drive? I know the ratio will be off, not worried about it, I only use my front wheel drive for very short periods, when I have to. However, will the ratio change cause the AWD to become engaged imediately when I turn it on before any tire slippage.
Any input is appreciated
