I have a 94 sport 400L and am replacing the sprockets and chain(2wd). Will there be a big difference if i go from a 12t to a 13t sprocket in front? I know stock is 12/34 right? I really dont want to lose any low end power.

 

If your sport is pretty much stock then I'd stay with the 12 front. If you have a pipe and clutch kit then I might go with the 13t.

 

I don't think it will hurt it too much, as a matter of fact the tranny will fix the difference, what i mean is the tranny will relate the new gear ratio and the difference can only effect the way the tranny works,I have changed sprockets many times and sometimes i never felt or seen any differance. the worst thing that can happen is you may have to change weights in the clutch but i dout that.

 

When I went to a 12 tooth front sprocket on my scrambler 400 2x4 from a 13 tooth, I didn;t notice any difference, but the GPS showed a slight 2 mph loss in top end speed.

Has anyone ran a 14tooth sprocket? Is there a huge loose in acceleration? not trying to hijack your post.

 

with my race mod i went from a 13 to a 15 and didn't lose anything
