With the twin air I was running a 172.5, I would but a few jets like a 165, 167.5 & 170....and start with the 170 and see what you have.

I would go with Mikuni jets myself. The aftermarkeft jets are not numbered the same and can make it a little more difficult. I got mine from jetsrus.com

I was wondering if you know were the brass plug is at on the carb you have to drill out to turn the screw

I put LTE pipes on with a K&N clamp-on filter and the recommended main jet was a 170... ended up with the same conditions he's describing. I finally ended up with a 175 main with the needle position back in the middle. Cleaned it right up.
