Default Any tips on installing HPD chain tensioner?

It came today. I think I get the idea of the instructions even though they're terrible. Any tips on the installation?

Also - will the Scrambler HPD work on a Pred?

I dont think the Scrambler tensioer will fit the Predator. Installing it on the Scrambler was pretty easy. The hardest thing was cutting off the chain slide bracket. Make sure that the grease fitting on the tensioer doesnt rub the chain. Mine did and the first time I took it out it slide the master link clip off my chain, and I lost the chain. I had to move my tensioner further back on the swing arm. Other then that is is pretty straight forward. I chucked the tap into my cordless drill and tapped the hole with my drill at a very low speed. Good luck.

I went to install the tensioner tonight and there is no way to make the roller make contact with the chain. It's just way too far down when mounted where it's supposed to be. Did they send me the wrong tensioner maybe?

Looking at the angles I would say that with no load on the spring, the top of my roller sits easily a couple inches lower than yours.

Nice pictures Jim.

Kevin you may need to swing the roller and spring around on the bracket so its in the right direction for tension pushing the chain up.

Like mentioned earlier make sure its down the swing arm enough to clear the zerk fitting.

I thought the same thing at first, see my previous post.

Also dont forget to go slow on the tap (in and out a little to let the chips clear) and keep it lubed and the chips out, you dont want to break the tap in your swingarm.

I was installing it just like in jimk's pics. I'm almost positive it has the wrong spring in it.

Hey Kevin did you go to Cabo Saan Lucas in Mexico on the ATV tours.
I rode and auto clutch honda Rancher there around town and out onto the beach, real cool!

Jim

Also the tentioners will NOT fit a Pred., the chain is on the other side of the swingarm.
