I have just recently put a new timing chain in my cousins 500 sportsman. It starts and runs good, but it smokes pretty bad. When I started this project there was very little oil in the tank. Before I started the engine, I put 1.5 quarts back in it. After starting it a few times briefly, and letting it sit over nite, there is no oil on the stick once again.
Has anyone ever had one of these valves go bad? If the oil isnt in the tank, shouldnt it be in the base? Causing smoke? I didnt know there was a drain on it, until I read it here tonite. I guess ill order a new valve asembly, and go from there.
