1995 sportsman & scrambler differences?
Ok, so i was just looking at some online microfiche and comparing parts numbers on '95 sportmans and scramblers, and from what i was seeing there is virtually no difference between these two machines besides the plastic, racks and a trailer hitch. Also, that the scrambler came with a "heavy" axle. Even the plastic mounting points appeared to be identical. Can this be??? Is there anything on these two machines that can't be interchanged?

the transmission is definitely different as pointed out earlier. The headight would also be different. I would imagine the shocks and springs would be different between the two machines. Do the frames have the same part numbers? I would be surprised.
Off topic, madhatter, I see you're from Ladysmith...do you know of any trail systems in Rusk County?

Baxy, I am talking about a 1995 sportsman and 1995 scrambler. The sportsman was not yet independant rear suspension then. Also, the scrambler was not yet the long travel years. The rear shock is different, but it is the same length and all aftermarket shocks can be used on either machine. The stock front struts on the two are exactly the same.
WIscrambler, I do most of my riding in Rusk County on logging trails in county forest. There really isn't anything for developed trails though. I know that an atv club was just getting going a couple years back, and starting to get some rides together. However, I have been deployed for the almost a year and a half now, so I'm really not sure what is going on with that now.

If my memory is correct, I seem to remember that the 95 Scramber was the 1st one of that series running to '97. Major changes occured for the 400 Scramber in 98 on.
The 95 400 Sportsman was the last of that series and the '95 Xplorer was the first of its series running thru 98 with some of the changes that the 97 Scramber got starting in 99 for the Xplorer's.
So what is different?? I would go to an online web site and start looking at items like frames, trannys, and what U really are looking for or at between the different atv's
Look here for part numbers
