Default guages on sportsman

I've seen a few people put oil and temp guages in thier headlight pod. I was wondering what size and kind of guages evevyone uses. I just picked up my new 05 700 EFI camo on Sat and I want to get some guages on it. I was going to put them on my 99 500 but with the good deals going on now I thought that I need to trade.

Yes the kit came with the sending unit and all the fittings. Mine is an 03 and I'm not for sure how much room the 05's have because the headlight pod is a little different. I have some more pics of the back of my pod that might help you.Click here for some more gauge pics.

Sportsman70003, your setup with the guages looks sweet. I'm looking to install a temp guage the same as yours on my 2002 Sportsman 700. (I can buy them through Canadian Tire here in Ontario) I have one question though. You remove the stock sensor to install the guage sensor. I assume the stock sensor is the trigger for the fan operation so does the kit come with some sort of splice to allow the fan functionality to be unaffected? I have never installed these guages before so I'm just trying to grasp an understanding without putting myself into an overheating situation.

Thanks, The sensor in the radiator triggers the fan so removing the temp sensor in the head will not hurt anything. The only thing is the hot light will not come on in the speedo to tell you are overheating you will need to watch the gauge. If you have anymore ?'s let me know I will be glad to help.

You can find a temp gauge kit here that fits in the pod and doesn't disable your "idiot" light.

I considered their mod, but is the pickup sensor not on the cooled side of the coolant flow (before the thermostat)? I picked up a gauge today and I'm going to remove the factory plug and measure the temperature at the block.
