Default Dealer says it's normal, again...UPDATE #2

I just got back from the dealer dropping off my ATV again. He said it's NORMAL for the AWD system to bind up and not disingage in AWD and 2WD when it's new, "It just needs a little adjustment and it will be ok." Well, I would like to know what there is to adjust? Does this sound right? I'm waiting for the dealer to say it's just the new Polaris muffler bearing going through it's break-in spleaning process, it's nomal, just see me in about 5 years and if it's not resoved I'll probably be out of business anyway.

Default Dealer says it's normal, again...UPDATE #2

Hi, I have a 2004.5 sportsman 500 ho. Bought it new. In the first few weeks I had the exact same problem. My dealer said that they had never seen this before and ordered a new front diff right away and installed it under waranty. They took care of me very well. They did tell me that it was normal for the bike not to come of out awd right away, but what we were experiencing was not normal. Good Luck!

Mine actually locked up the front wheels in 2WD. It was so bound up that the front wheels started to skid. I don't think that was normal. I hope everything is resolved now. I just want my dealer to give me a written warranty on the hillard they messed up. Thanks for the info...

I would have a talk with your dealer about replacing the front diff.

Default Dealer says it's normal, again...UPDATE #2

The dealer said "NO" on the new diff. He said he would give me a 6 month warranty on the hillard parts and labor. I'm having a little heart procedure (electrical problem) and will be out of commision for about 3 months so he extended it to 9 months. I think I'll be able to tell if the hillard is working properly in 9 months.

Thanks for all your help everyone...

Good luck with both the procedure and the quad!
