Default extra fuel container

Anyone have suggestions for a take along fuel container? I'm interested in the Kolpin flat fuel pack. It holds 3.25 gallons of fuel and fits on the atv rack. I'm looking for anything similar and possibly cheaper.

How long do you ride? I haven't tested the range on my Scrambler yet but on my older Kawi Lakota 300 I could go a full 9 hours or so of riding. Once a year we burn all of our rice straw off the fields and do it by ATV, takes a few 8-10 hr days of driving around lighting stuff on fire.

I'm suprised ATV's don't have bigger tanks in general. I can go 100 miles on my Polaris 800cc snowmobile.

Ihave that Kolpin flat tank and it has saved my buddies on the long trails at Hatfield/MCcoy They were all on scramblers(smaller tanks) but the two Sportsmans were pretty low. I gave them all a gallon and we made it to town!!! So if your going on long trips its a great life perservor sp?
The only thing that could improve is the velcro straps they provide good luck

RJF, it still works good,It's just a reserve tank to get me home or to my truck. All i did was switch around the fuel lines abit. Frist thing was to make the pec ****/fuel valve hose routing different .i took the hose from the oil tank and ran it to where the reserve would be.Then i took the fuel on hose(normal on) and put it on the reserver fitting (pec)lastly i took the normal fuel on hose and run it into the top of the oil tank so it will always have fuel getting pushed into it. I have used this set up for a few years and it has saved me alot.I had to thread in a pipe fitting into the top of the oil tank, where the oil sender swicth is(low oil switch)

Know that I am posting late on this thread.

Have anyone tried to mount the Kolpins on a 05- Sportsman Front Rack, which has rack extenders installed?
I have the complete Bodyguard kit installed, and have a rear cargo box, so it would be great to find a fuel pack, which would fit inside the front rack extender (or somewhere else on the ATV).
Anyone from the gang with some good suggestions?

We used to ride with the flat fuel packs but the weight of them, along with everything else we carry was just too much for the aggressive riding we do. Started busting rack mounts. Here's an alternative you might want to consider. It only holds just over a gallon but it's out of sight / out of mind until you need it.

Thanks for the reply. However, this solution probably wont fit the (dual exhaust) SP800.
Would like to at least double the capacity, and weight is not a major concern. Just worried that the Kolpins would have to rest on the front rack extender itself, making it difficult to tie down equipment to it.
