Default 2001 EXPLORER 400 4X4 CHARGING SYSTEM

battery wont charge try charging the battery it took a charge quad started uprode for a while with ligths on battery went dead after a few hours of riding well to make long story short did the same thing agin and the battery went dead agin iam sort of greenhorn when its come to elec. stuff any answers would really help YELLOWPIKE KEEP RIDING

Default 2001 EXPLORER 400 4X4 CHARGING SYSTEM

You will have some wires coming out of the stator going to the voltage regulator.

Unhook the two yellow wires and check for AC voltage coming out of the stator with the engine running. The voltage should go up as you rev the engine.

If there is no AC voltage here then you need a stator.

If there is voltage coming from the stator them most likely you need the regulator.
