2000 Explorer Issues
#1
I'm looking for advice on issues with my 400 Explorer. Everytime I drive it into a mud pit or beaver pond It kind of locks up on me. The engine just bogs down, tires won't even spin. I can have the throttle open all the way and and the engine just bellows and won't put out any power. If I sit and massage the throttle for a little bit all of the sudden I'll get power back the engine will rev up and the wheels will start spinning again. I know its not the belt because the engine would at least wind up if it was. I have it in to the shop and they say everything looks O.K. I'm only talking about mud thats at most about 2 feet deep. I not much a mechaninc so any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I got a 2000 exp and had the same problem. Pull off the seat, remove your air filter, remove the air box, loosen the round clamp that hols on your carb, check the drain bolt on the bottom of your carb. Make sure it is seated tight and dosent have a hole in it from vibration. make sure your s.plug is tight. if that fixes it , next time you go in 2' of mud you better hang on,
