What is a good 100 yard E.T. for a mod. four stroke
#1
I have a lot of built Predators that I constantly Race, this weekend Sept. 11 , 2005 there was a drag race , 300 ' in disced up dirt (used scat tracs) In the 4 stroke mod class I ran my second fastest Predator , I was a little worried as there was two high HP Raptors there (over 80 HP ). I took a machine I call the yellow framed Dragon, It has a built 574cc Drag motor. I won the class with out a problem. The scorer said I was running in the 4.6 second range (they had a timmer, but no print outs ). This was a good time as the start was hard to get a good launch (RUTS AND A DROP OFF ), but after that I pulled hard to the finish. My fastest Predator is really high dollar as I have a lot of custom parts on it and would not like to damage it. I use it mainly to show. In 100 yards it is 2 mph faster than the one I raced. My Predator that I raced was on race fuel only, no alcohol .Now I know there are faster 4 strokes in he USA, but they are in drag frames and on alcohol or NOS. At this track they let the winner of the mod banshee class in our class for fun and I took him out with no problem. Due to a coulple of racers dodging fast people the fastest Raptor did not get in the top three. It was said to have 85 HP, he really shoud have gotten second or maybe third as my son was on a Predator TT bike that runs hard and took a win from him. This track did not have enough help and it was hard for them to make sure racers were coming right back to the staging area. I know tracks varry a lot, but what are some of the fast four strokes running (just on gas and a true 100 yard track )?

If you go to planetsand website there is a 4 stroke section where they post all times and mods for bikes. I have seen as low as 4.3 on a yzf 450 but I know there are a handfull of bikes that are running mid fives. That is fast for a predator...i think most of the others are raptors that are running those times.

Nice work Mr. Nichols .
I am curious , who made the top 3 ?
A 4.6 on a less than perfect track is pretty darn good time .
I am somewhat suprised there wasn't a good banshee around that could get close to you . Where you a little suprised at that too ?
Kind Regards ,
Rick Ritter

Man those are really respectable times for a High dollar banshee much less a little ole slow Polaris. I think those times are in the ballpark with the Super Duper high dollar Raptor guys. Congrats and keep up the good work.

Rick, the unlimited class had the custom framed and big power valve banshee motors. They were running 4.2's, they were way faster than I was. The banshee I ran was a stock framed one, with a good running stock based motor(as far as I could tell from the outside). And yes I thought he might beat me, but we have ran a lot of fast banshees in the dunes and have not had any problems , untill you get into the high dollar custom setups.A yamaha got second and my son got third on a predator. They were both in the 5 second range, according to the scorers. Thanks , Doug Nicholas

Good job Doug. The blue Raptor is "only" 80 horse . The kid riding it had never been on it before. It was a learning experience for him to say the least. The other raptor had setup issues. but thats what racings about, setup and being on your game. you always run good and are a good competitor. No one should be ashamed to lose to you. Congrats on the win. You earned it.
