Me and a friend were up at some big gravel piles and i have a TB 250 below, and he has a 2004 sportsman 500, and we dragged and he beat me. He got a head start off the line and i caught him right away and passed him but then he came right back and passed me and just pulled away. I dont know what more i can do to my TB to make it beat a SP 500 at least to my top end. I dont expect to beat it top end wise but i would like to beat throughout my band. Is boring my cylinder out, .020, and adding a wiseco piston my last option and will it make that kind of a difference. I have really good bottom and mid right now for a 250 but need more.

boring and adding a new piston will gain you nothing........it is a good mod, but you will notice very little until you go up in compression. Port and polish that sucker......

What is your gear ratio? Like the others said you may need to gear it up.

Had the porting by a friend who is a performance specialest for arcticcats and it was ported the most without losing much bottom end.
