Just purchased an 00 Trailblazer 250 for the wife. I am 2nd owner the machine is only 5 mo. old paid $2800 for it. The machine is very clean.

Since this is my first time owning a 2 stroke could some of you fellow 2 stroke owners give me some basic maintenance pointers (2 stroke 101). Do I need to carry extra plugs, how often will I need to fill the tank for the oil injection and with what type of oil. Just stuff like that.
Thanks in advance!

PS already starting to modify I put the stock aluminum wheels & tires from my Scrambler on it to get rid of the steel.

Take a spark plug along with you, you may never need it, but if you do, you'll be glad to have it. They really don't take much maintanence more than a 4 stroke. I run the Polaris Synthetic gold oil in mine. It costs more than the regular, but smokes & smells less, and the spark plugs seem to last much longer when using it. Mine uses about a quart of oil per 7 or 8 fills of gas (I don't usually run it way out), and has a 2 quart reservoir, so that isn't a big deal, either. I check the oil level every other fill or so, but don't add much very often.
I think the biggest issue with a 2 cycle is the air cleaner. Remember, a 250 2 cycle takes as much air as a 500 4 cycle, and is less tolerant of dirt. There is no filtered, recirculating oil to rinse the dirt off the engine parts, so once it gets in, it may stay a while.
The only other thing is to listen to the engine. If it starts going 'tink tink tink tink' at idle, or seems to rattle when you first take off, the piston may be getting loose. Let it go too, far, and it will crack the skirt. Not the usual 2-cycle rattle, this is more of a clanking, tinking, knock. Other than that, gas it and go.

Farmr123 said it perfectly...I cannot add anything else!

Oh yes I can...I also carry 2 socket wrenches to adjust the chain if ever it loosens. Just in case.

Congrats on your first two stroke now lets get down to business all the regular two stroke maintance you got from Farmr123.
Your machine is a year old I'd check the adjustment of the oil injection pump, it tells you how to adjust it in the owners manual. If that dose'nt pump in enough oil your engine will lock up tighter than fort knots.
Never let the oil run till theres no more, air will get sucked into the system and then you'll have to bleed it to get the air out.
I usually will change my plug every two months to prevent too much carbon build up on the piston.
One other thing winters coming, two stroke, winter not a good combination. your machine is jetted for 40 to 80 degrees, once the temps get to be under 40 its time to rejet.
For this winter I'm running a 260 main jet and a colder plug. You dont live that far from me so I would say the temps. should be the same. I'd run the same in yours, You'll thank me when your pulling or laughing at people in the woods who did'nt rejet.

A few more things. Change the lower steering post bushing with the HPD version, if it isn't done already, your steering will be getting very loose. It's $35 well spent, and easy to do. Next, I would can the stock air filter and install a Uni-Filter. Like posted before, keep it very clean, and well oiled. Ride the quad about five minutes before you oil the chain, generously, I might add.

Thanks for all the info guys !!!
Those were the things I was hoping to get. I will be getting the new air filter this one is pretty dirty, a couple of plugs, a jet and a lower steering post bearing from HPD which is shot already. I have one on my Scrambler so I know the benefits of having one. I`m not sure how much riding she will want to do in the winter but I will get the jet and plug just in case. Thanks again

Generally with the first dealer check-up (so I am told) the dealer adjusts the oil ratio.

Run the Polaris Synthetic, top it up when you fill the gas tank.
