Default New piston?

Since i have been reading on the forums i have heard it is a good idea to replace the factory piston. Mine is a 99 so i figured this would be a good move. If i go with the stock piston size do i have to do anything special to put it in? Cant i just take the old one out and put the new one in and be ready to ride?

Yes this is a good idea........the stock pistons are crappy and cheap. Get a wiseco piston(replacement).......you will need new gaskets too. You'll need to look the cylinder walls over good, and if they look good(no scratches or gouges) then you shouldn't need to bore it out(but if you do......get a piston first, and take the piston to the person who you have bore it out......so they can match it)........Depending on what your crosshatch looks like, you might need to hone it. I always hone mine(on the old cylinder like yours)

Just want to add to this.............ALWAYS deglaze the cylinder when installing new rings....ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!
