For one, start using periods. Second, they are both great quads. The SP will outperform the Grizzly in mud, due to its true 4WD and higher ground clearance. The Grizz has 100 ccs more, but with the quads I ride with, I really haven't seen a Grizz prove where those 100 ccs are. As for reliability, they both are equal from my experiences. The Polaris definately has a much better ride.

I've never been on a grizz so I can't personnely give advise. These are the negatives that I've heard abotu the Grizz. Geared high. The ride feels like you're always riding on the edge. Harshness of ride causes a lot of lost power on trails.
I do ride a SP500 so I can tell you this. The ride is the most comfortable ride I've ever been on to date. Because it handles the trails so well there is no power loss on rough terrain. It has a great power range and will pull almost anything in low gear. It has "true" 4 wheel drive when you need it. The negatives. The front cv's seam to be wimpy when upgrading to a large heavy mud tire. (all have the same problem just doesn't seam as bad) Older models have had a reliability issue. Newr SP's are ok.
I am in no way bashing the Grizz. To those that ride and love your grizz, I'm thrilled for ya and all the other diiferent model owners.
Get on your friends bikes (grizz and SP) so yo ucan see and feel the difference yourself. Don't let anyone talk you into what you may not like. There is a post in here and on another furom about someone mbuying their nightmare bike. When you ride the two bikes, ride them like you would if it were yours without tearing them up of course. lol IMHO the extra 100cc's don't really seam to amount to much for what most people want it for and that's trail riding.

screamin4wheeler,The reason Polaris wheelers are prone to more frequent front cv failures is simple. It is the price we pay for true 4wd. There is no where for the torque to go when one of the front wheels finds instant traction. On a limited grip front end the torque is simply transfered to the wheel with no grip! That is why honda's,yamaha's and kawi's are not prone to as much cv breakage. It is also the main reason they are more prone to gettin stuck!

You wouldn't be unhappy with either purchase. As a Grizzly rider I can tell you a few things. First, those extra 100cc's do in fact show themselves. I haven't ridden with an HO yet. But every other 4-stroke 4x4 quad that I have ridden with, I have handily beaten in an all out drag race, including the SP500! I don't find the gearing on my Grizzly to be high at all. Since I weigh 100lbs less then a SP500, and have 100cc's on it. Lo range really doesn't need to be as low! Plus you don't have to switch between hi and lo all the time. You can leave it in hi all day because you have the power to do it, or you can leave it in lo because its not so low, that you can't still achieve a pretty good speed on the trails. When riding in the goo in hi range I can still light up all 4 tires. The limited slip front dif sucks. But its cheaper and quicker to hook up and winch myself out then it is to break cv's. I'm not sure why Polaris comes up with this "true" 4WD and then doesn't put in bullet proof cv's. However, the added traction Polaris has is a big plus. I've heard mention on several occasions of the suspension being too harsh on the Grizzly. I don't think that it is. I haul *** down some pretty uneven trails and it works fine for me.
Bottom line is go out and ride them both and then decide for yourself which one you want. They are both good quads.

Yukon, I was in your position a month ago. I couldn't decide between a Honda or a Polaris. So, I researched every magazine, website, reviews and talked to everyone who ever owned a Atv. I found out what the likes and dislikes were of all Atv owners. I figured if I was going to spend seven grand, I was going to be educated. I decided the 2001 Sportmans Rse/Ho was the one. I couldn't be any happier. Good Luck
