Default Tire Opinions

Hi everybody,
It's doctorvic back at it again. I am in the market for some new tires and I need your opinions on witch tires to go with. I ride mostly hard pack some gravel, sand and my personal fav deep nasty MUD. The size I am going with is 26x10x12 I think if I went with anything taller I would be robbing my engine of power I only have a sportsman 400 so any opinions on any tire would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Victor

I got the Polaris/Vision/Kenda 26"x14" tire package sold by Polaris. It uses Vision 14" cast aluminum rims that are not only great looking but strong as can be. The tires are Kenda "Bounty Hunter" radials. I have had these for about 250 miles now and the performance is excellent. They handle very nice without the mushy pushing through corners I got with stock tires and they have far more traction in all conditions including (especially) mud. They are not a mud tire but do perform well in mud due to lugs extending to the side of the tire a bit and a very flat contact patch......more meat on the surface. These are also 10" wide front and 12" wide in back which is just a lot more tire than stock. My 400 seems to have no power loss at all from these bigger tires (at least I can't feel it).

I just got back from a big riding trip with my buddies and these tires were excellent. I can highly recommend them.

Check them out on the Polaris website in the accessories section. I got the 4 wheel/tire package for under $600 and I think that's a great deal.

i have the 26x10x12 on the front and 26x12x12 on the rear and i love them, light weight and great in the mud. can beat the Mudlites in my opinion. take a look at my pictures and you can see what they look like

Whatever size you go with, do yourself a favor and buy Maxxis tires.
They make the longest-lasting most badass tire i've used in 25 years.

If you are running JUST mud, then a chevron pattern is called for, but for a cobo like yours I cannot recomment the Maxxis All Trax enough. I've run Maxxis on dirtbikes for years, and when ALL my buddies were hasving flats in Baja I never lost a pound of air.

Amazing tires, and NOT the most expensive.

No matter what you go with, you will likely lose power. I noticably lost a lot of power with my mudlites, even though they are stock height, because they are much heavier. But that was a loss in acceleration, not torque, so it didn't bother me.
