New brakes for 2001 models??

What exactly, besides the master-cylinder, was upgraded on the 2001 model brakes? Is it worth getting them changed on my Scrambler? Are they more durable and more effective? Mine just don't seem to cut it!

They also have steel braided brake lines. I heard the new brakes aren't adaptable to the old style.
