Default 01 Trail Boss Help Needed

CV carb. Thats the vacuume operated slide with the diaphram in the top, Not cable operated slide, Right? If so it is the CV carb, no cable attached to the slide, cable goes in the side and operates the butterfly.

Thanks, Caanan

Default 01 Trail Boss Help Needed

caanan my top speed was 49mph, which was maybe a few mph faster but it got there in a big hurry. the main jet before i did the 414 was a 120. i am playing with the clutch now to try and get more out of it. i think i am on the right track every time i tear it apart and try a new setting i seem to be getting closer to what i want. hey alpine2 when i accelerate i notice a little bump in power probably at the 3/4 range. should i adjust the other needles?

Does anyone know what part of the carb Cornbread was refering to when he said "Slide needles and "Nozzles" are really bad about wearing out".

I'm just not sure what he was refering to when he said "Nozzles" wearing out.

I am assuming that when he says "Slide Needle" he was talking about the needle for the main jet on the slide.

Thanks, Caanan

Check and make sure the vacum slide is raising when you hit the throttle because if it is not it will cause to run rich with no performance
it may be binding or a vacum leak in the rubber diaphram

Thanks, Caanan

The nozzle is the part in the bottom of the carb the slide needle runs in. Your main jet screws in the nozzle.

Remove the main jet and push the nozzle out the top.

Replace both the slide needle and nozzle.

Once you buy your new nozzle and compare the size of the hole in the top of it to your old one you will see the wear and you will know why it needs to be replaced.
