Default CV boot, just changed it!!

Just returned from 3 days of riding…….

Nope, no rear axle bearing problems on our current machines. On our ’01 HOs, occasionally when I’d pull the stub axles out of the rear bearing housing the bearing would split. It’s a big sealed bearing but it’s constructed in two halves that should stay together. Sometimes in the process of pulling the stub axle out, half of the bearing would stay on the axle and the other half would stay in the housing. I’d put it back together as clean as I could with some extra grease but I knew it would go bad eventually. It’s big enough that it’s not going to fail without some notice if it’s paid attention to, and that’s what happened. When I finally started feeling excessive play I’d replace it. I only replaced two or three in about 15,000 miles (on two machines) and I’d keep one on hand, no big deal.

I had the same problem with my boots and lost one joint cause of it. My dealership called polaris and asked them what we could do about it. polaris the company told my dealer that I need to put a sack of feed on it to take the bind off the cvs and boots, so i traded it in on a brute. I stiil like polaris but i did not like there response on the cvs and boots. If i need to put a sack of feed on 05 sportsman it needs to be in the owners manual, What a deal!!
