I HAVE A SP 700 WITH THE MUDLIGHTS. I BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THEM AND HAVE ABOUT 900 MILES ON THEM. THEY STILL HAVE THE LITTLE RUBBER NOBBIES ON THEM. I HAVE A FRIEND WIHET A EIGER WITH 2500 MILES ON IT WITH 25 INCH XL AND HAVE LITTLE SIGN OF WERE. HE PUT THEM ON IT THE DAY HE BOUGHT IT. HE RIDES IN PA, CA, NY, NC, SC, AND CT. NOT FUST TRAILS, EVERYTHING.

I wish my Mudlites wore that good because I really like them on the trails. I have about 500 miles on the Mudlites and they are over 1/2 wore out. I do ride on an asphalt road alot. I have about 600 miles on my Gators and they show very little wear and they are also rode on the asphalt road.

I have the ITP 589's
they are a serious mud tire and also kicks in snow!!
But are heavy and will cut down on speed.I love them in comparison to the Mudlites.A few buddies ran the muds but wear is to great on them i went to 589 and they hook up like no other.Very little wear after 700 miles still nubbies>Id say very good tire and tuff >side wall protection could be better.Previous tires are Bearclaw which offered great side wall and rim protection but loaded with mud quicker than 589sBut i loved them.
Still have goodyear Rawhides but they spin too much and don't have a closed tread design when you spin no go.My opion only, you will have pros and cons with any tires.Application is the key get the right fit and make sure your bike can turn them in the mud.

For a pure mud tire there are only two to look at. If there is no bottom u will need outlaws. If u can dig to thebottom u will want vampire EDLs. Mudlites, gators and 589s are a good all around tires.

since you want to trail ride also, same as me, I have a set of ITP 589's on ITP Type 5C wheels and a set of Mudlites on 5C's....all 27" tires....between the two, the 589's are better for mud....both work pretty good on trails....but when you get the 589's in quicksand/clay type mud nothing is going to help you, didn't matter what tires I had on.... ha......I was at a place riding, and a guy came over a steep hill, to a drop off into a small lake type thing that was basically all that mud(no water standing, just wet clay)......and I ended up having to help him hook up his winch(not enough power).....and my pred(with buddy on the bumper).......to pull him out......it was a sight to see....the pred pulling a sportsman for once, other than the other way around......lol.....

Elkbow, which tires do you like the best out of your 589's & Mudlites. How do the 589's do on rocks? I have the Mudlites and they work great for the rocks but are wearing to fast for me. I would like to get your opinon on the 589's.
