I will say my gearing is great, I had a 40t rear, and traded a buddy for his 13t since I have a longer swingarm, it will not wear out my chain slide. I also pick up some low end from the Rath Header. I think the K&N is a waste of money, I have been there and done it. Learn from my mistakes, and it will not cost you guys anything. I think I have got all the Hp out my Pred that I can without going in the engine.

I agree with RAJ 100%...........I too have had the K&N, and the rath intake......and now have the twin air clamp on.........

I also had the 450r carb, and ended up going back to the race modded nicholas cycle carb.......

Spyder........the carb mods will make your pred seem more torquey, and the throttle response is unreal(I jumped on my buddies stocker.....and it felt like a dog!!).......
The lectron 44mm is more of a race carb, for a mildly built motor(similar to mine)......I've heard they are stiff throttled, and are for jetting inclined persons(very).......

The TM45 is a good carb, I know........and so is the dirtbike 450r.........both of which are kinda pricey(like $450-$500)..........but the stock race modded carb will do just as good to an extent of mods.

My dad works in a machine shop, and they use CNC mills, CNC lathes, CNC EDMs, and honers all the time. I would be able to shave my flywheel down myself wouldnt I? Is it a bad idea, is there a way i could srew up, and are there certain areas to shave down. thanks

You'd have to balance it again.......I think it might be a pretty intricate(is that the right usage of this word) process.....

brad, could you get me a link to the Twin Air set up? at the moment im running blind for it.

as for carbs, do you think a TM45, being that much larger than stocks 41mm (or 42, i cant remember) be ok for running an air intake and a full exhuast? seems to be a little large to be running that much fuel through just 'freer flowing'

spyder.....yeah in my opinion, the TM45 would be way overkill for anything you have, and even myself(some engine work). I guess somewhere around my stage, or a little above, is where I'd start to think about another carb. The carb mods will take you a long ways, trust us!!!

As for a pic for the intake......it is just a clamp on filter......I'll see if this weekend if I can't get one of mine, if I have time. Mine has an outerware over it, is that ok......or would u want to see the filter?? Doesn't matter to me.....I guess I'll probably take the outerware off, I need to clean the filter sometime soon too.......

I'll try to post some pics this weekend(or by monday), if I get time.....if not, I'll have them up by next weekend for sure.

I posted the carb mod prices somewhere in this thread.......they together run you about $150. Then the filter is arouind $35 I think, which is actually a cheaper filter as you'll find if you start looking at filters. Again, I just can not stress how much improvement you will see via these carb mods......I wouldn't suggest them if I didn't think they were worth every penny.

Don't be afraid to call and talk to Doug......that is if you can actually get ahold of him(very very busy guy!!!).......if you can't, ask to talk to Jeff, he is pretty knowledgable about the pred too......and will be able to tell you all you want about the carb(he actually does the mods I think anymore, he just might not know as much about the deep motor parts as Doug).......I trust Jeff too....he put my motor back together when I was in a bind.....good mechanic.

Oh.....and one more thing I haven't mentioned yet is this......If you get the race modded carb(both mods)......the carb needs some vaccuum I guess, so that is why this filter is needed, it has a little "tube" before the filter......I guess it is what Doug found via lots of testing to be the most responsive to power via the modded carb. I know all of his preds, and most pred's around my area, are running the twin air filter.......if you do anything, atleast do this(suggesting not to buy a drop in)........
