sounds a little silly, but I have gotten some of my best pics from a $6 disposable camera. I've opted to leave the good camera at home... out of the sand/water/etc.

I have been happy with my Olympus weatherproof camera, but it has only seen a few beach vacations and is a 35mm. I'm not brave enough to bring out the digital during either mud or dust season here in NY.

Honestly I have an older Kodak 2 megapixel model CX-4200 with only digital zoom. The digital zoom is crap but the last two times I've been out riding trails I've come home with water running out of the camera and it still works fine. I've beaten the crap out of it the whole time I've had it - riding around in backpacks, center consoles, glove boxes, etc. in all types of weather and temperatures. I couldn't have asked for a more durable unit.

Last year day after thanksgiving office depot had disposable cameras for only .99 cents. I bought 15 of them... I have a $600 pentax 35mm camera that I now never use. It's just to easy to grab one of those .99 cent cameras and go. They even have a flash. Takes great pictures. And when I get the film developed. I can get a disk that I then download onto my computer. I hope they have more .99 cent cameras this year.
