im having trouble keeping my 500 running on cold starts.if you pull the choke right out it fires right up,then you have to push it in about half wayand it will idel,but once you go to move it after its been running awhile it needs full choke.its fine when its completly warmed up.i was wondering if the choke can be set or something,any ideas would be great

With the sportsman there is a cold start update you need to fix... it has something to do with a brass jet in your carb that needs a hole drilled sry i couldnt be of more help

 

this is the same problem i posted about on my 600. i'll give the dealer a ring and see what he says.

 

Had the same prob with my SP 600, changed jets and now it runs great even at -20.

 

My take a good 20 minutes of run time to warm up if it's below 10°F, and about 10 minutes if it's below 30°F. I hope there's something I can do.

 

Does this update apply to the 05's as well? My 400 runs great in the cold, but the 05 hates it, and it hasn't even seen any real cold yet.
