Plow wont lift on scrammy

The electric motor wont turn unless I hit the switch while I am starting the bike or if I turn the key to start while running. It is only 1 year old(quad and plow) and had no problems last year.
All wires are good,no blown fuse, etc.is the battery tired? It used to work even if the bike isnt running?!what do i do?

The cable on the drum is seizing(if this setup infact does have a cable), Poor connection leading to resistance in the wiring circuit. Motor seizing up. A pivot on the plow seizing up. First step, make sure that all the pivots, cables and all that should be lubricated is in fact lubricated, next step, make sure all connections are tight, and without corrosion. Again, I don't know the setup you have very well, but these are steps I would usually recommend.

Your right the problem is electrical. And the key to your problem is that the motor will work ONLY when the key is in the start position.
The simple solution to your issue is to move the + cable for the plow system to connect directly to the + on the battery instead of where it is now which I'm thinking is keyed hot. But that won't fix the underlying problem your electrical system is having. I'd check the key switch and power relays to find your issue. There are 2 paths for power to flow on your bike. One is during start and the other is from the run position. Sounds like you have a problem in the "run" path.
Personally I'd just move the + to the battery and be done with it if everything else is working correctly. But check and make sure the charging system is charging the battery properly. If it's not then the system isn't being energized while in the run position.

you said everything worked fine last year and now this year you are having problems so to me it sounds like a grounding problem. remove your ground wire and clean that connection up real good and reattach it and give it a whirl. I've found that most but not all electrical problems come from corroded ground connections. hope this works for you!
