a bad ground will do all sorts of funny things. try redoing all the ground wires that have to do with the winch

 

I found my multitester and traced the sources of power to find that the break was inside the "emitter".Looks like a relay or something but inside it had thin wire coiled and a spring loaded throw which was no switching under a load so I put a small plastic shim between the two and whallabaddabang!!!Ill call cycle country tomorrow and have them send me a new one(it just plugs right in)
