Default Smokin like a chimney

Got a 94 sport 400L that is smoking pretty good when you get on the throttle. (light blue smoke) Any suggestions to what the prob could be? It isn't getting low on coolant, pre-mix 32:1, recent bore job; new piston and rings. The idle screw is turned all the way in (only way it will idle). Had a rip on the reed cage boot but I sealed it. It has smoked a little since i've had it and the last month or so it has been sitting in the garage in pieces. Took it out for the first time sunday - smokes like the mosquito sprayer truck.

It could be the counterbalance oil is seeping thru the seal in the crankcase.I had this happen, and it smokes like crazy. It doesnt burn the 30 wt as well as the 2 stroke oil.Just a thought.

I had replaced the counterbalance, bearings, and seals about 6 months ago. I check the level before each ride and it doesnt seem to be loosing any.

Sounds like your new rings didn't seat properly to me.

Anything I can do about the rings? Besides replace them? If I keep running it like this will this cause any major problems besides fouled plugs and smoke?

This is a TWO STROKE engine not a four stroke. The rings are not the problem. Your oil injection could be adjusted wrong.

It is a 400 two stroke. The oil injection was disconnected when i got the quad. Installed a block off plate and put on a single throttle cable. I had been premixing 32:1 and 40:1 after the new rings and piston. (this is what i was told to run after the rebuild) Havent even ran a tank of gas through it since. Is this the wrong ratio?

2 stokes do smoke a lil, but not like a chimney, run it a while tank or 2, at different speeds rings may not be seated yet?

Guess I'll go back to 32:1. How long does it usually take for the rings to seat properly? I have about 6 hrs or so on the quad since the rebuild.
