Default snowmobile tach on sport 400

I was reading old threads and saw that member "dooho" used a tach from a Polaris Indy Snowmobile. Anybody else been able to make one work? I saw on eBay that some of the tachs are a "6 pulse unit". What exactly does that mean? Is there any relationship to the number of magnets on the flywheel? Would that mean the sport 400 needs a "4 pulse tach" since it has 4 flywheel magnets? thanks.

6 pulse tachs work on 4-stokes, 2 pulse tachs work on 2-strokes

Bubba-
Are you sure about that? From what I've seen, the 6 pulse tachs work on 2 stroke twins. I wonder if that could be made to work on a single cylinder 2 stroke?
