Any sport quad like a 400ex will be you on topend but you can go places they cant.THere is no need to rejet it with just a K&N filter.Get used to the Scrammy aand them ask what can be done. There isnt much you can do for topend but with mods you can increase the fun factor a bunch.

You just bought a great quad. Maybe the most capable trail quad out. The 500 motor is indistructable and has plenty of power. It will do about 65-67 stock. It would be really close in a race with a 400ex but I think the ex will edge it out on top.

well, i ride with a 400 ex. he is way faster when we are blasting down gravel roads. i swear his top end is around 70+ . down right scary fast!
but in the trails, we all stay together(speedwise). yeah hes quick and nimble, but im right with him with traction and power. the 4x4 capabilities will blow a 400ex away. go ahead a roost some mud in his face.
tires, jetting, pipe and a k/n will help you get going, but nothing like some clutch mods will. power to the ground is the name of the game!!!!

I really don't think a Scrambler 500 will go 65. Maybe without a rider... I've had mine topped out plenty of times and that was most likely in the 40s.
