Overheating Sportsman

Thanks for all the info, I'll look into replacing the switch first.
Also, it looks like this switch is the same thing as the sensor 2manytoys was talking about. Polaris part number 3089246

There is a service bulletin on some of these machine about a bad ECU causing that condition you need to see if you falls it to that first. If it does the repair is free for a 200.00 part and the labor.
If you contact me I can check and see if yours needs the update

I sent one again but in case you don't get it. I check the bulletin and yours does not fall within the serial number range, but the problem you having is very common with a failed ECU. You may want to take it to the dealer they have a module that can test it. Also the ECU is NOT resetable it either good or bad. Hope this helps---Hydro

I own a 500 sportsman and also have an overheating problem. Manufactured: 08/05/2003
The temperature sensor has 5 kb and even with it unplugged, no hot light nor fan turning.
The fan itself is OK (provided 12V at the fan connector as a test)
There was a relay mentioned? Where is that located? How can I test? Does anybody have a electric diagram of the fan and the temp sensor?
Other suggestions?
Thanks,
JHEdmonton
