Default few questions after first winter maintenance

OK i put the machine away for the winter that i just bought this year. A few questions i have is on an 01 sportsman 500 H.O. is the transmission oil and rear end oil combined? i mean there is no gear oil in the rear end? Also i had my right front hub not work all year, how can i test whats wrong and how do i do it? My last question is i removed the battery for storage , so i pull started it to move it after i noticed the speedo would show 5 mph at idle and of course now the AWD doesn't work, does it need battery power?
thanks

The transmission and rear gearbox are seperate. It has rear diff fluid and trans gearbox fluid. You need the battery for all functions to work properly.
