Scrambler 50..any polaris mechanics on here?
#1
I have posted this before on here but only as part of other topics and threads. I picked up an Polaris Scrambler 50 for my son a couple months ago. So far it has been pretty good, except for once and awhile it is really difficult to get started. I believe it is beacuse of the automatic choke on it. It seems to flood pretty easy?
Any ideas or experience, is there any adjustment on it. Any and all replies are appreciated as I would like for us to go riding instead of spending 15-20 min. getting it going.( once it is it is fine!!) BTW our dealer we got it from is basically of no help...he just mumbles about the oil in the crankcase sitting there? or some crap?
thank you

IAJACK,
While I haven't worked on one of those (yet) I may know a way to help ya out. Before you shut the bike down for the day, turn the main fuel valve off and let the bike "run out" of gas. Make sure you turn the ignition off after it dies so ya don't end up with a dead battery on next riding day. If that helps, I'd take it BACK to the dealership and explain what its doing and what youre having to do to stop it from happening.
If its under warranty, I'd find a different dealership.

It could be oil sitting in the crankcase. That's what happens with the 350RZ engine. It doesn't seem to make it harder to start, but to check the jetting, it's problem.
All this to say that oil can sit in the crankcase and cause difficult starting.
Turning the gas to off could be a solution.
