i was told by my dealer that the 450 is going to replace the 500 carb,which is about the same power ( so they say). they stopped making the 600 because the efi 500 has the same power. they both have proven engines but ild go w/ the 500 myself. going to buy the wife a new one and kinda in the same boat as you.

I think if you look a little closer you’re going to find some significant differences, at least they’d be significant to me.
I’m guessing Polaris is going to make the 450 a “price point” machine. If it does replace the SP 400 and 500 carbed (makes sense to me) your first difference will be the fuel delivery system, and of course displacement. The other two major differences will likely be the lack of EBS on the 450 and it will have 25” bias ply tires as opposed to 26” radials on the 500EFI. Other than that they’ll be exactly the same (hehehe).
Kind’a reminds me of the time someone looked at my dog and remarked “Hey, I gotta dog that looks just like that only it’s about 30 pounds heavier and a different color”
