How much hp would I make on a 99 400 scrambler with HPD Trail Mod Porting, Big Bore Billet Head, Agressive Cluch kit(not drag,)and a Forged Wisco Piston with a bore of 87 running on 92 octane gas? And will this effect the dependability of the bike?

Thanks
Phillip

That set up is not possible. The Big Bore kit requires 110+ octacne at least, and would need a race port job to fully achieve it's effectiveness.

87mm is the biggest to you can go on the 400 (bringing it up to 421cc). Unless you are intending to build a full out dragger, only bore as needed. The gains from jumping straight to a 87mm piston dont justify the power gains, which will be 90% bottom end. I run the dogpoop out of my 400, and have not needed a bore job yet, and I've gone through 2 Wisecos.

I think you're looking for the HPD trail mod set up: trail pipe, porting, bore 34mm OEM carb to 36mm, rad valve, 92 pump gas. HPD shows a dyno of about 56-58HP, but again remember this is measured at the crank. Properly clutched expect to get about 42-44 of that to the ground, slightly more with a roller. Run a 39PWK and 105+ you could be cranking 60-62.

Just as a rule of thumb I deduct on average 25-30% off HPD's dyno's to compensate for power transfer.

Personalyl I've found my reliability to improve as I modded my machine, of course I spend more time taking car of it as well. Not necessarily becuse it neeeds it, but because I have so much invested in it.

Ritter can put a nice package together for you very comparable (price and performance)to HPD's trail set up. While HPD's pipes are more asthetically pleasing to look at, his (RCR)customer service is far superior to HPD's. Matter of fact I think he sell HPD pipes now, so why not go with him?
