need help plastics melting

Default need help plastics melting

bought my 800 in april. love the bike, but i have had the plastics replaced once already and now they are melted again. polaris covered them the first time and should cover them this time, but should i be doing something different. anybodyelse had to deal with this?

scooch...........
You're not the first one to have that problem..........It's happened to a few others that I've heard about......I think Polaris was replacing the side panel and adding more heat tape on that particular piece....But I also know a couple guys that fabricated a bracket to keep the panel away from the header....That's probably the best fix.........Do a search here on "melting plastic" and check out what firemedic5586 did with his machine........He fabricated a bracket to hold the plastic away from the header..

WOW, your plastic melts? That suck's. I'm glad mine don't do that.

it has been a problem for several years. i have formed alum. strap and attached to the frame on both of my bikes, 99 mag. and 04.5 sptsmn....

My buddy had this problem. It is not all that common, around 2 machines out of 1000. He had his pips ceramic coated and used the heat tape as an extra measure. He did that months ago and no more problems..

Default need help plastics melting

Melted a dime size hole in the fender of my 05 500. Just behind the removeable side cover.
Dealer replaced fenders and taped the he!! out of it.
there is a heat shield , but it end right there to let the shifter rod pass.
Should be lots of good used fenders for you guys that crash.
