Polaris Reliability???
#24
For some reason I thought I had read that the engine was built by Fuji but everything was assembled in the north country. Whereas, the sawtooth, pheonix, etc where totally built somewhere else like taiwan. It concerns me if this is the case. Is the Predator motor built in the US?

It doesn't matter who the manufacturer is including auto makers, but I never buy the first year run of anything. It just makes the first time buyers guinea pigs because there was no real life usage of the vehicle. Just look at all the corrections and changes they make just after the first year of any vehicle. Polaris is reliable just like anything else if you maintain it, but I would personally stay away from first year production runs of anything, there's no history to go by, and if there's problems it's that much harder to sell. JMHO! Good Luck!

I've an '04 ATP with 112 hours, and about 800 miles on it, zed problems that I didn't cause myself. Wife has a '05 Sportaman 500 HO with about 50 hours and 350-400 miles, zed problems but it's still a new bike.
A guy I have known for years works for the Indiana DNR. They have several Polaris Sportsman and a 400 Big Boss on the property, the newest is a '98. He says they get used every day, the guys ride 'em like they stole 'em, and each has been rolled at least once. He feels like they hold up very well for the amount of abuse they take.
My brother has a '98 Big Boss, again used every single day for farm work, puling a trailer, fairly heavy hauling. Again zero problems.
People like to bash Polaris but every one whom I actually know who has one is pleased with their reliability and durability.
