voltage headache

I was wondering if anyone here knows where the voltage rectifier is on a 2002 polaris 500 h.o?
I have been poking around for a few days now with no luck. If anyone can help me I would be greatfull.

Thanks for the replies. I removed the front panel and there is 2 larger heatsinks. Is the rectifier inside one of these? I don't want to start cutting open these heatsinks unless I have to.
Again, thanks alot for the replies.

The regulator is not servicable, so there's no use cutting into the heatsink.
What exactly is your problem? Do you know for sure the regulator is bad? Check your battery voltage. It should be 12.5ish volts w/ the key off, 13.5ish at idle and 14.4ish at higher rpm. If you don't see this, you could have problems with the stator or regulator. To check the stator, look for AC voltage on the yellow and yellow/red wires going to the regultor. I don't remember what voltages you should see, but they should be similar on both wires.

The voltage at the battery with the motor running is 7.5 volts. I have already bought a new regulater but can't seem to locate it under the front pannel. There are 2 black bundels the size of beenbags wrapped in a heatshrink type of plastic. could the regulator/rectifier be in one of these packages or should it be bolted on somwhere under there because I can't seem to see anything that looks like the regulater that I just bought for $150.
