Default NEW 600 Twin Sportsman - "HOT" Check Engine Light

I just picked up my new 2005 (left over) zero miles, 600 Twin Polaris Sportsman from the dealer today. AFter riding for about ten minutes, I shut it off and the fan came on. I waited for a while and the fan would not shut off. I took the key out and waited for another 10 minutes and the fan still would not shut off. The LCD said "Hot" Check Engine. I checked the engine oil and the anti freeze levels and all was okay. I am calling the dealer tomorrow, but wanted to know if anyone else had any thoughts about this. Also, it is idling very low (700 to 800 rpm). The dealer has had the bike for about a year in his warehouse. If anyone has any knowledge about this, please let me know. Thank you, dtallen@optonline.net

the fan should not run with the machine off, you must have an electrical issue. for the first few hours of use the engine will run hotter so the fan will cycle more often but should shut off with the bike. dealer should take care of you. sorry couldn't help more. good luck, hope it's something simple.

peace

sounds like the temp sensor may be bad. thought there was a recall/service bulletin on the 500 not sure about the 600.

I have seen a couple of 05's and a 04.5 with these exact symptoms. The problem is a defective ECM module that was under recall. Here's a link to the polaris website, where you can check your serial number against the recall: http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-...l04_05ATVs.htm

The dealer should be able to replace it in about 15min.

good luck

Polaris Travel, what did you find out? I have a 2004.5 600 and my light came on yesterday. I've checked the recall list, but they don't list the 2004.5 600. I called a local Polaris service center, and all they'll tell me is that I need to bring it into the shop $$$$$
