Default cheap 400 mods

I am wanting to build up my 400 more but i dont have too much money. I have about 150 right now. It already has a pipe, reeds and valves, milled head, pegs, I want to get it set up for motocross and trail riding, anyone know of cheap parts or anything i can do for the chassis or motor?

You didnt say what pipe you have or if the bike is clutched to that pipe. But if it is clutched right and you plan on MX riding you need to check into a chain tensinor and may be redo the topend of the engine adding a girdle kit to the cylinder and head.

Its got a DG pipe and yes it is clutched to that pipe.I have thought about a chain tensioner and the girdle kit but i was wondering if they were worth the money or if i should invest in something else.

Ditch the DG pipe and start over. There is NO WAY to clutch for that pipe.DG cant even tell you what the operating rpm range is on it.Get you a Aaen,HPD or Hotseat pipe and clutch kit .Ebay the DG to get a part of the $$$ back. They may be good on the import machines but not for a 2stroke Polaris.

I thought about that but i dont know how much i could get out of the pipe and silencer, they are both almost brand new. they came with the quad when i bought it. it already has and hpd clutch kit on it. How much of a power gain will i notice if i put an hsp, hpd, or aaen compared to now?

Keep the silencer get you the HPD TRail pipe for around $200 .You should get around $75-$100 for the DG from someone who dont know any better. You will think you have a new ride.

If you already have the HPD clutch kit get the HPD pipe to match it.

Well, I have an AAEN top end pipe on my HPD race mod right now and it seems like a good pipe to me, but if I were you and I was going to trail ride it and stuff, I would definetly go with the HPD trail pipe. HPD's staff and parts are TOP NOTCH! just my $.02
