I wouldnt run automotive tranny fluid in it.You need a good chaincase lube.THe synthetic Polaris AGL fluid is $11 a qt but is recomended. Not a bbig deal when you only change it once or twice a year. You can run automotive trans fluid in your hubs but if you do it is best to use Mobile1 synthetic. The front end uses a good grade of 80w90 lube.If the prices of polaris lubes are too much drop me a pm.

I called my local Polaris dealer and they told my that they use a synthetic 0W-40 motor oil. They said for me to get Mobil 1 0W-40 synthetic.

16polaris,

They told you to use 0w-40 synthetic in the gearbox(transmission)?

I have a 2000 model (Scrambler) and the trans takes (PPS) Polaris Premium Synthetic gear case oil (weight?).
Not sure if this is the same as AGL fluid.

BBScrambler said You can use Amsoil Series 2000 Chain case lube. It works as a substitute to the Polaris AGL fluid.

It doesn't specify the AGL fluid (like my sp700) but its still not Auto Trans fluid such as used in cars.

A lot of different fluids (auto trans to 80w90 gear lube) have been used in the trans' buy others saying they had no problems. (used with their sleds, model "X" atv etc...)
I'm not so sure myself.

I know I won't stray from the (PPD) Polaris Premium Demand Drive (Synthetic) fluid in the front Differential on my sp700.

YES, They told me that 0W-40 was the same thing as the Polaris trans fluid, and they said it was cheaper too, so thats what i've been using for a long time now.

Jimmypsp700, Forgive my ignorance but how do you change the transfluid in the 2000 scrambler 400?
