Default Cracked transmission housing...please help

How big of a job to fix this? Something broke inside near the chain and broke the case from the inside of the case.

Does the motor need to come all the way out?
Is it worth buying the assembly allready put together or the case and the broken internal parts. The assembled tranny is 1149.00 or the case is 370.00?
What do you think the dealer would charge for labor??????

Any help would be great

I would pull the tranny out and look inside.Get a manual and it is not a big job just takes a few hrs.On the side case of the tranny a 325 trailbossand2000-up 250 trailblazer are the same.

THe blue spring cut my rpms back about 50 on the top and gives better slow down(backshift) and little more belt grip.
Seen your fmf post and I think you would benifit from either the Aaen blue or the HPD violet or even EPI purple. All are close.

Actually something broke inside and caused the case to break from the inside out..What could it be????? When whatever broke it caused the chain to rub against the inside if the case and broke it. 100% of fluid came out...

Is a tranny from a Boss or Magnum the same or is it geared different?
Would it make it a faster rig????

If you tear down and find the inside problem is (my guess is a bearing may have went down and let slack in there and broke the case) if you cant find a used housing and have the pieces then i would get it welded. Find a good aluminum welder then check with a paint thinner for leaks. Been there and done that with my old trail boss.

I have not even tore the machine down yet, So this is just a thought. It seems like the break in the case goes all the way from the filler bolt, underneath . Because I lost all the fluid. But where the fill nut actually cracked off I can see where the chain did contact the case.
Can the tranny be torn down with basic tools at home? (bearings springs, tensioners????)
I will post a picture this evening so you can see the crack....

Thanks...

yes you can do the tranny with basic hand tools, get the repair manual from polaris it spells it out well. I'll bet the silent chain either got way loose and bound up or it broke a gear, let us know what you find.
