Trailblazer ran out of gas

Trailblazer ran out of gas
Rode maybe 35 miles (ran the bloody pi$$ out of it) today. No problems at all until I went to unload from the trailer when I got home. Started up fine and then suddenly quit. I think I ran it below the reserve line as there was still a little bit in the tank. Does this sound right, running out at 35 miles? Mind you these were hard miles on snow leading a group of three 4x4's. Throttle WFO probably 90% of the day. My back wheels probably travelled 5 times farther than the fronts. Rode in 3-4" of fresh wet snow.
I dumped some gas in it and it wont fire. Are these trailblazers hard to get starting again when you run it out? I know how to get it running again by priming with gas but thought a tank of gas would last longer than that.
BTW, the trails up in Danbury wisconsin were really nice today. The atv was the best choice of rides but you could have ridden a sled today if you didnt mind hitting a little water here and there.
The trailblazer ran great in the twistys for being a 2 wheeler without chains on it. Rode with two AC 4x4's and neither of them could touch me.

i have a trail boss 250 and its pretty much the same thing just less sporty, yea they dont seem to get far on a tank of gas when driving hard, i dont think i even get 35 miles out of mine when im drivin that hard, and usually if i put some gas in it, let it sit for 20 mins then choke it, it'll start right up
