HPD REED SPACER FOR BIG BORE 400, A MUST?
I installed a HPD reed spacer in my BUBBA BIKE, 87mm bore. HPD says it is a must for big bore 400 2-stroke engines.
First thing I noticed right off the bat is the low end seems to be gone. I don't think it accelerates as hard as it did. And yes, I am taking it out and try again.
Any one have any experience with the reed spacer?
thanks...............handycap

Generally, if A to B is what you want then leave it out. Without the spacer there is more crankcase compression and it tends to wedge the air/fuel out the the transfer ports with more force. At upper RPMs it helps fill the cylinder better due to the less time available that the ports are open.

Thanks Guys for the reply.
But math was my thing. So If P(+) = spacer in and P(-) = spacer out, and A = low end and B = Accelerate then the following must be true.
P(+) = - A/B and P(-) = A/B
or B = P(+), and A = P(-)
and B = No Wheelie, and A= Wheelie
therefore A/B would be the answer.
I think I am gona leave it in................................................ .....handycap
? why do I mess with a creators creation that works.
