For all of the advantages that EFI provides I will take the gamble that I won't have to replace any of those parts. Most all things in life are somewhat of a gamble. (risk vs. reward)I'll take my chances on the EFI. To each his own.

I guess that's why the 3 year warrenty is important... Using my auto's and trucks as an example I've replaced fuel filters, 1 fuel pump and nothing else, ever (knock on wood).

My thinking is that in 3 years e bay will be loaded with parts for these things.

As a controls engineer at work here pointed out (also 500 owner) this debate should have been held when the FIRST piece of electronics was added. Now were talking about the differece between 40- 70% of the engine managment being electronic. (the remaning mechanical being the cams and clutches).

I bought a 2006 sportsman 500 efi about a week and a half ago.
i had it for 2-3 days total the rest of the time it has been in the shop.
the first problem was the idle was out of adjustment - easy fix one day in the shop.
next the heat sensor problem , check engine light and hot flashing.
brand new bike it was kinda upsetting considering i had only 6 miles on my new wheeler.
i just got it back today new resistor in wiring harness that goes to the fan.
apparently they left it off at the factory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
so i hope my problems or over like some of the other stories i have read.
i love the bike it rides like a dream and seems to have plenty of power.
this forum is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
