The head pipe on my SC500 broke in two while I was riding this Sunday. We patched it with a couple of clamps and a can good enough to get it back to the truck. The head pipe came with the IDS2 silencer that I bought in Feb. I had doubts about the pipe when I first bolted it on because it was a one-piece and it vibrated a lot. I called Supertrapp Monday morning, the guy I talked to said they were aware of the problem and had made a replacement 2-piece pipe with springs similar to the stock pipe. He transferred me to the warranty deptartment where the guy took my information and said he'd send me a new pipe immediately. No questions asked, no hassles. I got home Tuesday evening from work, and the pipe was waiting on me.

I've had 2 unpleasant customer service experiences lately with AAEN and FTR, so when a company handles things right, I think everyone should know.

how does the IDS perform for you, I have been looking for a pipe for my 500. I wanted something to beef up the bottom end and throttle response.

The tunability of the IDS is great. You'll get a small increase in performance simply due to the fact that it is lighter and flows better than the stock exhaust. The power increases become more evident when you start adding disks. You trade a little bottom-end for midrange when you add disks, but that's when the sweetness of the auto trasnmission really shows. If you add disks, you can tune your clutch to stall a little higher to make up for the bottom-end loss, but now you've got more midrange and its much quicker overall. Just by tuning the pipe and clutch I went from losing to my brother's modified SC400 by 4 quad-lengths, to only losing by about 1/2 a length, and can pull my buddy's stock Banshee for about 100yds. Pretty good for a 4-stroke.
