i saw a guy break and bend the frame on a 500 but he hit a wall going about 50mph. it wasn't pretty

 

Not sure.....but my first instinct would be to think she is talking about a predator rather than a sportsman. I looked over the post, and she never says which she is talking about. If a pred, then yeah it is common, but they are fixing them more and more as they get newer.....the problems are pretty much all solved by 05 and 06

 

The thread title says which Polaris. My nephew has broken the frame on his 03 Preddy. A little welding and gusseting and it's held up well.

 

The sportsman line is also called dale earnhardt jr's too.....along with the preds.....

 

It's the 90 cc...

lol.....ha.....we were all wrong!!!! I know nothing about these then.....other than, find where it is breaking at, and try to weld some gusset plates in....

 

On our '03 pred 90 the gas tank rear support bracket broke off of the frame... i just welded it back on and it was fine. I'v heard of poor welds on some of these... check on the mini atv forum also. I read in the recent dirt wheels mag that Rath racing will gusset weld the frame and powder coat it for about $450.00... a little hard core unless you plan to race though.

 

That Rath Pred 90 in the Dw mag is bad to the bone.
